Legal Requirement — Missouri Law & Federal ADA

This website is required to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA pursuant to:

• Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title II — U.S. Department of Justice final rule (28 CFR Part 35), with a compliance deadline of April 26, 2026 for Iron County
• Missouri RSMo § 37.710 — requires state and local government websites to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards
• Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

Conformance Status

Iron County is working to achieve full conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The following accessibility features have been implemented on this website:

• Skip navigation link for keyboard users
• All color combinations meet the minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio
• All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text
• All interactive elements are keyboard accessible with visible focus indicators
• All form fields have associated visible labels
• Page language is declared in the HTML element (lang="en-US")
• ARIA landmarks identify all major page regions (banner, main, navigation, contentinfo)
• Heading hierarchy is consistent and logical on all pages
• Navigation menus support full keyboard operation including arrow key navigation and Escape to close
• Mobile navigation includes collapsible sub-menus with proper ARIA expanded state
