County Collector

The County Collector is responsible for collection of property taxes and other county revenues.

Responsibilities

  • Collection and distribution of current and delinquent personal property taxes and real estate taxes
  • Conduct the annual tax certificate sale held the fourth Monday in August
  • Collection of merchant and manufacturer licenses, due by December 31st each year

Property Tax Bills

All tax bills are due by December 31st. Payments received after December 31st but bearing a December postmark will be considered on-time payments.

Important: Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the obligation to pay on time (Section 52.240 RSMo).

Annual Tax Certificate Sale

Properties subject to sale will be published in the Mountain Echo for three consecutive weeks in July prior to the sale. The tax certificate sale is held annually on the fourth Monday in August at 10:00 AM at the Iron County Courthouse.

Buyers are strongly advised to thoroughly read Missouri statutes pertaining to the tax sale prior to purchasing a tax lien on a property.

Merchant & Manufacturer Licenses

A merchant or manufacturer license is required if you operate a business selling goods, merchandise, or manufacturing within Iron County.

  • Fee: $25.00 annually
  • Due: No later than December 31st each year
  • The fee is not prorated
